Joseph Gordon-Levitt (JG-L), the actor, who refers to himself on the site as RegularJOE, started the site with his brother, Dan, in 2005. The hitRECord site was remodeled and launched in Jan. 2010 with a welcome addition: contributors would be afforded the opportunity to be paid for their work.
Most news press for hitRECord (especially if you Google(R) them) appears to revolve around video and audio, including the most recent news released at the end of March, 2013 where RegularJOE announces and invites you to hitRECord on TV.
This blog post is for writers, illustrators and curators (as JG-L labels those he refers to as having good taste) who would be interested in contributing to the third volume in the tiny stories three volume book series.
The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Vol. 1 was released on Dec. 6, 2011. The book was self-curated and self-published by JG-L incorporating hitRECord contributions. The book was successful enough to gain recognition from a publisher who offered hitRECord a three volume publishing deal. After being assured the books would be published affording hitRECord total content autonomy, the deal was struck. Vol. 2 was released on Nov. 13, 2012.
After months of contributions, over fifteen thousand to date, that have already been amassed for Vol. 3; a June 1, 2013 deadline was recently set. After that date contributions for Vol. 3 will no longer be accepted. For all the details involved to make a contribution, please consult hitRECord's website. Makes one wonder, "What is the Guinness World Record for the most contributions to one book?" Things that make you go "Hmmm!"
